Parts: Tanks

Every tank in the palette: what it carries, how much of it, and its figures from the info card.

A tank is what feeds the engines and thrusters above and below it. Two stretch under a Length slider and grow their mass, price and capacity together; two are fixed spheres and pods you bolt on where you need them. See Building a rocket for how any of them join the stack, and Resize a tank for the exact steps on the stretchable ones.

The Fuel Tank as drawn in the hangar.

Fuel Tank

Part · Tanks · sold by Rocketry

The main propellant tank: drag its Length to make it hold more, and its mass, price and capacity all scale with it together.

It stacks top and bottom, offers a rail along each side for radial parts, and carries a face on its body that a wing's stud can drop onto anywhere.

It has no actions to tap. Its only property is a Length slider, from 48 to 256, hangar only.

Pairs with any throttled engine below it. Instead of a longer tank, stage a second one behind a separator once a stack gets tall.

The HT-2 Hypergolic Tank as drawn in the hangar.

HT-2 Hypergolic Tank

Part · Tanks · sold by Hypergolic Storage

A stretchable tank of hypergolic propellant, the fuel an RCS Thruster Block or an Escape Motor burns: it stacks and resizes exactly like the Fuel Tank, on a shorter base.

NODES4

It stacks top and bottom, and offers a rail along each side for radial parts.

It has no actions to tap. Its only property is a Length slider, from 24 to 128, hangar only.

Pairs with an RCS Thruster Block or an Escape Motor on the same ship. Instead of it, the HR-1 Hypergolic Sphere or HR-4 Hypergolic Pod bolt straight to a flank with no stack point spent.

HR-1 Hypergolic Sphere

Part · Tanks · sold by Attitude Control

A small fixed sphere of hypergolic propellant: no slider, just a single tank you bolt on where you need a little more range for the thrusters.

NODES1

It bolts to a single point on a flank; it does not stack.

It has no actions or properties: nothing to set.

Pairs with a single RCS Thruster Block on a light ship. Instead of it, the HR-4 Hypergolic Pod holds more on the same kind of mount.

HR-4 Hypergolic Pod

Part · Tanks · sold by Hypergolic Storage

A longer fixed pod of hypergolic propellant on the same kind of radial mount as the Sphere, holding more than three times as much.

NODES1

It bolts to a flank on a rail, so you can slide it along the mounting part before it locks in.

It has no actions or properties: nothing to set.

Pairs with a ship carrying several RCS Thruster Blocks or an Escape Motor. Instead of it, the HR-1 Hypergolic Sphere is lighter when a little gas is enough.
