The Programme

Every mission in the chain, chapter by chapter: what it asks, what it pays, and which of them are standing work rather than a flight.

The Programme is the ordered run of missions at the top of the contract board. What it is and how it behaves is Contracts and the Programme; this page is the list. You do not have to read it — the board only ever shows you the next couple of missions, and that is the intended way to play — but it is here if you want to know what the game is going to ask for next.

The contract board with PROGRAMME · 3 / 66 MISSIONS at the top, two campaign missions with their chapter line and progress rail, then UNDER WAY and the ordinary jobs below.
The board leads with the Programme. The heading counts the whole chain.

How to read the tables

ColumnWhat it is
#Where the mission sits in the chain. The board hands them out in this order, but two chapters can be open at once, so the number is not a queue position.
MissionThe title as the card shows it. standing marks a mission that is not a flight — see below.
What it asksThe goals, worded as the card words them. A flight mission's goals must all be met in one flight.
PaysWhat lands in your account when the last goal is met. No advance, ever — a Programme mission pays only on completion.

Nothing here expires and nothing here can be failed. A mission you do not want is skipped for nothing, and everything waiting behind it opens anyway: see Skip a Programme mission.

Standing missions

A standing mission is not flown — it is held. Three relays in orbit of Earth. Two of your Meek in space at once. A crewed station, held together for a week. The game checks the state of your fleet, your crew, your buildings and your tech against it and pays the moment it is true, whatever you happen to be doing.

Where a mission asks you to hold something for a number of days, those are days on the world clock and they run whether the game is open or not — but any break puts the count back to zero. A relay whose battery dies in eclipse is not a working relay, so a network parked in a shadow stops counting until the sun comes back. See Electricity and Talking to your ships.
