Let the world fly a burn
Mark a planned burn with Fly it for me, put the phone down, and the world flies it at its time, exactly as you planned it.
Use this for a burn that comes due while you are away: the capture burn at the end of a transfer to the Moon, a circularisation hours from now. The shared world keeps running when you close the game, and this is how a ship makes its burn without you.
- You are signed in and flying in the shared world. In sandbox the button is not there.
- The ship has a maneuver node planned that is still ahead. See Plan a maneuver node.
- You have the gems it costs. The price is on the button.
Steps
- Open the node's panel. On the map, tap the node. The panel opens at the top left, with FLY IT FOR ME · 30 above REMIND ME, the figure being what it costs in gems.
- Tap FLY IT FOR ME. A sheet names the burn and when it comes, and says the one thing that stops it: you flying the ship at its time. Under its violet button it says what you pay, Paid now: 30 gems · you have 120, and that the gems come back if you take the mark off or the burn is not flown.
- Tap 30 · Fly it for me. The sheet closes, the node on the map reads AUTO under its figure, and the panel's button reads AUTO · FLOWN FOR YOU. The gems are taken now. A Now leave this ship sheet comes up at once, saying the world flies the burn only while nobody is flying the ship, and by when you have to leave it.
- Tap Back to the hangar. The flight ends the way the menu's HANGAR does, and the ship stays on its course for the world to fly. Or tap Stay for now and leave before its time yourself: back to the hangar, or take the controls of another ship. The world never flies a ship you are flying, and closing the game while you are in this ship's flight keeps it in your hands. The button is not there while the ship is still in the air or under thrust, since leaving then would lose it.
What you should see
At the burn's time the world turns the ship to its mark and flies the node off, the way you would. Your phone hears that it was made, and when you come back to the ship it is on its new course with the node gone from its plan.
A burn the world cannot make is not flown and its gems come back: the ship was in your hands, it had nobody aboard able to fly it, or no engine could fire. The notification says which, and the node waits on the plan as it was, unmarked. A stage that runs dry partway through ends the burn with the rest left on the node, and that one is paid for, since it was flown.
